Cross-Border Fund Transfer (Nepal–India) -FAQ
- Where is the feature of Cross Border Transfer located?
- To send money to India:Navigate to Send Money → Cross Border Transfer within the EBL Touch 24 app. This option is visible only to Indian citizens.
- To receive money from India:Go to Profile Settings (profile icon on home screen) → Cross Border Transfer.
- Is the feature available to every EBL Touch 24 user?
Currently, the send money feature is shown only to Indian citizens, in line with NRB regulations. Nepali citizens can only enroll to receive inward remittances.
- Is this feature enabled on Retail Internet Banking?
Yes. The Person-to-Person (P2P) Cross Border Remittance feature is also available on Retail Internet Banking at https://netebl.com/.
- Why is the feature not shown for Nepali citizens?
This is due to regulations stipulated by Nepal Rastra Bank. In the current phase, outward remittance to India is only applicable for Indian citizens.
- How does the customer setup this feature?
All customers receive a pop-up notification after logging into EBL Touch 24 to set up the feature. If missed, follow these steps:
- Click the profile iconon the home screen.
- Scroll and locate “Cross Border Transfer”.
- Agree to Terms & Conditions and click “Proceed”.
- You will receive a message: “VPA created successfully”.
For Nepali citizens (who can only receive money from India), they must enable the feature to receive funds.
- What are the transaction limits of the feature?

- What is the transaction mechanism of this feature?
The P2P service is facilitated through NCHL. Customers in India can use the UPI network to initiate transfers and send funds seamlessly to beneficiaries in Nepal.
- Can customers disable this feature?
Yes. Navigate to Profile → Cross Border Transfer and toggle the setting off.
- Nepali citizens see only one option (inward consent).
- Indian citizens see two options (both inward and outward consent).
- What are the charges of utilizing this feature?
Currently, the charge is NPR 240 flat per transaction on top of the standard exchange rate markup (e.g., 1.6015 on INR transactions). No charges are levied on the receiver’s end.
- What is VPA ID?
VPA (Virtual Payment Address) ID is an identifier enrolled on the UPI platform (also known as UPI ID). Customers on the UPI network can send and receive funds using their VPA IDs.
- How can Nepali citizens receive money from India using this feature?
- Customers who enroll under the feature will be shown their own unique VPA ID.
- Share this VPA ID with the sender in India.
- The sender must input this VPA ID from their Indian banking app.
Note: The sender’s Indian banking app must have cross-border payments via UPI enabled.
- Which banks have enabled this feature?
Currently, SBI Bhimpay is supported. Other Banks will be supported by the end of June 2026.
- What should customers do if the option is not showing in their app?
- Ensure the EBL Touch 24 app is updatedto the latest version.
- Clear app cache or reinstall the app.
